POP Peeper notifies you whenever you receive an email message. It supports POP3, IMAP and webmail accounts, including such popular systems as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Excite and Lycos. But more than just that, the tool lets you send messages directly from the client. The application has an easy-to-use interface and the fact that it can automatically import account configurations from other mail clients helps you a lot.
This email notifier is highly configurable. For example, it can issue different types of alerts, such as playing sounds, showing desktop alerts, opening the program’s main window or starting your default email client. Likewise, you can set how often the tool checks for new correspondence. It’s also possible to configure what parts of the messages to download: headers, contents or the whole message. Although originally thought as a notifier, the application now includes other features that allow reading and sending messages as well as downloading attachments. Moreover, it can store your contact’s addresses.
All in all, POP Peeper has the main advantage of supporting multiple types of email accounts. Also, it’s a very small application that you can also run from any external storage device. As it supports plugins, you can install other features as well. Unfortunately, the tool is still far from being as functional as other more sophisticated email clients, which, by the way, support issuing alerts when a new message arrives.
